Japan is a treasure trove of unusual English usage that brings a smile to my face, and I'm quite sure I've made more than a few Japanese people smile after I've mangled their language as well. Here's some photos I took of the bamboo groves at Arashiyama, the inspiration for a haiku a few weeks back. The scenic spots of Arashiyama were lit up for a night illumination festival and made for a snapshot-happy evening - about 300 shots including retakes due to not bringing a tripod and more camera shakes with the cold weather.
